May 29 2013
I just came back from the International
Archiprix 2013 workshop and award ceremony in Moscow: two weeks of
inspiration and great fun. The value of endless discussions with
ambitious people from all over the world is hard to describe. It is
very exiting to see how everyone's different cultural background
influences their work as architects and urban planners.
Inspiring talks have broadened my
view of the meaning of architecture. Like the Archiprix jury
mentioned, there is an obvious difference arousing between the
current generation of architects and their predecessors. There
is a growing engagement among young architects with a broad range
of issues not directly related to architecture. More and more
question the role of architecture (and architects!) in a changing
society. This was clearly visible in the competition entries.
I want to thank everyone for their
great company and congratulate the winners!
